Community Workshop #2
The San Marcos ATP project team held its second community workshop on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Residents and commuters who live, work, and travel in the San Marcos area were able to learn about the project’s background and purpose and provide comments on the draft interim and ultimate pedestrian and bike networks. The policies and programs framework was also covered, emphasizing education, encouragement, enforcement, evaluation, and engineering.

2023 San Marcos Annual Spring Fling
The San Marcos Active Transportation Plan project team held a booth at the San Marcos Chamber’s 31st annual Spring Fling on April 2, 2023.
At the booth, community members were invited to learn more about the existing conditions for bicyclists across the city and to share their input about where they’d like to see traffic calming measures and mid-block crossings throughout their neighborhoods.
Community events like these offer opportunities for the public to learn more details about safety measures like bike facility classifications ranging from bike routes to bike lanes, separated bikeways, and multi-use paths! Sharing these approaches to bike safety means a clearer vision for the future of active transportation across the city and more informed conversations about possible tactics to improve these conditions, including neighborhood traffic circles, chicanes, speed humps, and mid-block crossings.

San Marcos Harvest Fest
On Sunday, October 9, 2022, our public outreach team connected with community members at this year's Harvest Fest.
We asked what you'd like to see more of in San Marcos, and you delivered!
You gave us feedback on enhanced pedestrian crossings, secure bike parking, and so much more! The Harvest Fest allowed community members to learn more about the future of active transportation and encouraged residents to provide input on which elements would best support their day-to-day experiences getting around San Marcos.
